This is a known limitation of some Bluetooth headsets, not a bug in your setup — here's why it happens and how to fix it mid-call.

When you use type-to-speak, Sidekick routes audio through a virtual microphone (the Rylo Microphone) so your typed messages can be heard on the call. Some Bluetooth headsets are designed to stop capturing audio whenever they aren't the "active" input device selected in your call — which can happen the moment the Rylo Microphone takes over.

Switch your input device to your Mac's built-in microphone (or a wired headset, if you have one) for the rest of the call. Your voice will start being picked up and transcribed again immediately.

Sidekick shows a banner during calls where type-to-speak is active, warning you this might happen — so you can switch ahead of time if you'd rather avoid it altogether.
