Starting, pausing, and ending a caption session

How to start, pause, resume, and end live captioning in Rylo Sidekick.

Starting, pausing, and ending a caption session

Starting a session

Start captioning by clicking Start transcribing on the Sidekick home screen, clicking Start captioning on a call-detected notification, or choosing Start Session from the menu bar icon. Captions begin within a few seconds.

Pausing

Click the pause button in the caption window to pause. Pausing stops captioning but keeps your session open — nothing is lost, and you can pick up right where you left off.

Resuming

Click the same button again to resume. Your transcript and call timer continue from where they paused, rather than starting over.

Ending a session

Click the red End Session button in the caption window at any time to stop for good. Sidekick returns to the home screen and, a few seconds later, generates a summary of the call automatically.

Do I have to remember to end it myself?

Not usually. If you close or hang up the call in Zoom, Teams, or whichever app you were using, Sidekick notices and ends the captioning session for you — you don't need to click anything. Manually ending is there for when you want to stop captioning while staying on the call, or if you're using an app Sidekick can't watch for a hang-up.
